07.24 Brazilian Girls

For almost three decades, Brazilian Girls has performed an eclectic blend of electronic, dance, jazz, and pop that melds multicultural sounds from tango to cumbia to punk rock, with hints of dub, improv jazz, and lounge. Over the years, their recordings have built a worldwide fanbase, received a Grammy nomination, and led to sold-out shows at top venues around the globe with captivating live performances that made the avant garde accessible.

In 2025, the band stepped into a new era of music and performances as a trio. Currently comprised of founding members Jesse Murphy (bass, vocals), Didi Gutman (keyboards, vocals), and Aaron Johnston (percussion, vocals), Brazilian Girls continues to explore new depths of globally infused electronic music while revolutionizing the live concert experience. Whether performing new tracks or classic hits, each concert is an unforgettable one-of-akind experience, crafting a sound that’s recognizably Brazilian Girls, yet free flowing enough to constantly push boundaries, evolving the definition of what that sound should be. It’s free-spirited, yet locked in.

At its heart, the collective creates music that is imbued with the lifeblood of NYC, where the band formed in 2003; their forthcoming new music presents as a melting pot infused with relentless rhythm. It’s fun. It’s sexy. But there’s an undeniable depth driven by high-caliber musicianship and genre-bending soundscapes. The new instrumentally driven recordings feature vocals on some tracks, including guests like Norah Jones and Liset Alea.

As the band continues this new chapter of live performances, they aim to bring longtime fans along for the ride by honoring songs that established their legacy, performing a selection of hits with the help of a revolving list of guest vocalists and instrumentalists who bring a fresh energy to fan favorites.
